School Life

Brown’s School offers a differentiated curriculum combined with a specialist teaching approach. We have an integrated therapy model, made up of on-site Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology, as well as Literacy and Numeracy Intervention. The school day is supported with specialist learning equipment and programmes, movement breaks, and visual aids. Bespoke supports and interventions are in put in place to support students’ individual needs and help them to achieve their learning potential.

The school day begins at 8.30 and runs until 3.30, being made up of 6 lessons, morning OT, and reading groups. Every student receives 80 minutes of morning group Occupational Therapy sessions each week (4x20 minute sessions), regardless of documented need on their Education, Health, and Care Plan. Wednesday afternoons are dedicated to PSHE and Healthy Living Enrichment for all students. Break and lunch times are structured and supervised by teaching and therapy staff to help students manage their social times effectively.

Brown’s prides itself on being a small, nurturing environment which allows students to thrive and feel supported to be themselves.
