Exam Results

The June 2024 exam series produced some of the best results in the school’s history. We had students achieve grades 7s, 8s, and 9s for the first time, outside of Covid-adjusted grading, as well as an overall increase in ‘pass’ grades. Most importantly, our students achieved amazing results according to their individual targets and learning profile. Well done to all of our students who sat exams this summer.

In total 189 exam entries were made across six GCSEs, five Entry Level qualifications, and four Functional Skills qualifications. 63 entries were made at GCSE level, an 80% increase on the previous year, with students achieving grades all the way up to Grade 9. Since 2019 the number of exam entries at Brown’s has increased by 250% due to ethos and culture of the school, promoting confidence through holistic development and championing personalised achievements of students.

PE built on its previous best results in 2023 by achieving its highest-ever grades, with students achieving grades as high as 6, 7, and 8. From 20 entries at GCSE, 95% (19) achieved a Grade 3 or above. Of these students, 79% (15) achieved a Grade 4 or above. Six students achieved a Grade 6 or above.

Of 13 students who were entered for GCSE English, 85% (11) of students achieved a Grade 3 or above. Of these students, 73% (8) achieved a Grade 4 or above. Two students achieved a Grade 6 or above.

Students can access GCSE Maths at Foundation level, meaning the highest possible grade is Grade 5. Of 13 entries for GCSE Maths, 85% of students (11) achieved a Grade 3 or above. Six students achieved a Grade 4 or 5.

Art GCSE had five entries in June 2024, with our first Grade 9 achieved. 80% (4) of students achieved a Grade 4 or above.

By a student’s final year at Brown’s, we strive for them to achieve a minimum qualification, of varying levels, in English, Maths, Science, and Physical Education. 96% of students that sat English or Maths at Functional Skills Level 1 achieved a pass. Over 65% of students across Functional Skills Maths and English, Level 1 & 2, achieved a pass grade.

Achievement is one of the Golden Thread values at Brown’s School and it may take many forms. We are incredibly proud of our students’ individual achievements and look forward to helping them in the next chapter of their learning and development journey.
